The tea tree (Melaleuca alternifolia) has a fresh, spicy aroma that cleanses and rejuvenates. It is another essential oil for every home first aid kit, as it is most often used to prevent infection and speed up the healing of small scratches, burns, stings, rashes and other wounds.

• The antioxidant and cleansing properties of the tea tree make it one of the best essential oils for skin care to cleanse the pores, regulate oil production and improve the appearance of freckles, scars and age spots.
• It is known to be effective against nail fungus, dandruff, warts and athlete’s foot.
• Tea tree helps strengthen the immune system and can relieve respiratory diseases by clearing congestion and reducing inflammation and pain in the airways. It is the best essential oil to add to household cleaners and has been shown to control mold.
• It is also often added to deodorants, hand sanitizers and natural insect repellents.
• Mix it with shampoo for healthy scalp and to prevent lice.

The tea tree combines well with Lavender, Sage, Rosemary, Lemon and Geranium.

• Avoid eye contact. In case of contact, rinse immediately with plenty of water.
• Do not use them for internal use unless you have the advice of a doctor, pharmacist or experienced aromatherapist.
• Take special care as some oils are unsuitable for babies and children.
• For use during pregnancy or breast-feeding, consult your doctor.
• Do not use them insoluble on your skin and of course before you use it for a first time, do an allergic reaction test.
