10 Steps To Ensure A Healthy Pregnancy

The journey of pregnancy is definitely a unique experience for every woman. It has its ups and downs, but the joy is great. Here are 10 simple steps that can help you have a healthy pregnancy and therefore a healthy baby.

Eat lots of fruits and vegetables

Add a variety of vegetables to your daily diet. Fruits and vegetables are a great way to provide your body with the nutrients it needs to have a healthy baby.

Stay hydrated

Have a bottle of water with you and include in your diet vegetables and fruits rich in water such as cucumber, tomato, pumpkin, watermelon and melon. You can also drink smoothies, juices and coconut water to increase your overall water intake.

Raise your iron levels

Eat lots of iron-rich foods to maintain your iron levels and prevent anemia. Take vitamin C or drink a glass of orange juice with iron, to improve the absorption of iron in the body.

Take folic acid supplements

Folic acid is found in green vegetables, lentils and breakfast cereals. But you may still need supplements to get enough to keep your baby healthy during the first three months of pregnancy.

Have healthy snacks on hand

Have some prepared healthy snacks ready such as dried apricots, almonds, fresh fruit, protein bars and cereal bars.

Get enough sleep

Lying in bed and staying comfortable can be one of the biggest challenges during pregnancy. Try to lie on your left side, use an extra pillow to feel more comfortable. Sleeping on the left side increases blood flow to all organs and puts less pressure on the abdomen.

Be active

Although it may not be easy, regular exercise can help you cope with the physical and emotional demands of pregnancy. It also helps in the smooth birth, which most of us are afraid of.

Things to avoid

Avoid eating raw or not well-cooked meat, egg with yolk or papaya.
If you want to eat eggs, make sure they are hard boiled.

Manage stress

Too much stress can ruin your mental and physical health. Try doing yoga, deep breathing exercises, stretching or just taking a short walk to manage stress.

Forget caffeine

The best thing for your pregnancy, but also for breastfeeding, is to completely forget about coffee. However, if your gynecologist allows it, prefer decaffeinated and in a very small amount. But it is always better to drink tea, herbs or other beverages that do not contain caffeine.
